A teacher was cut to death on the University of Southern California grounds on Friday by a male understudy who has been arrested, police said.
USC President CL Max Nikias recognized the casualty as brain research teacher and neuroscientist Bosco Tjan in a letter to the USC people group.
The cutting happened soon after 4.30pm inside the school's Seely G. Mudd building, the site of a lab that Tjan ran and in the heart of grounds, police said.
Tjan, a specialist in vision discernment and observation, cut in the mid-section and was discovered dead with a few cut injuries, authorities said.
He was declared dead at the scene.
He has been associated with the college since January 2001 and was a co-executive of the Dornsife Cognitive Neuroimaging Center.
He holds a Ph.D. in software engineering from the University of Minnesota, as indicated by his LinkedIn.
